Planning in London is the journal of the London Planning & Development Forum*. Published quarterly since 1992, it is only available on subscription. Like the Forum, it aims to publish the viewpoints and interests of the private and the government sectors involved with development and Planning in London. In 2006 it is was a finalist for the International Building Press magazine of the Year Award.
Planning in London has established an authoritative and useful web site (www.planninginlondon.com) for reference by all concerned with development and planning in the capital. It includes latest information on London Planning & Development Forum meetings previous minutes and agendas.
The contents of each issue are listed and a selection of features is available as downloadable pdf files by the end of the month of publication and remain available for future reference. Quarterly performance data for London boroughs and other statistics of immediate practical use, as well as a listing of contacts for the boroughs and other planning bodies and a list of planning consultants is included.
ePiL is the quarterly email which summarises contents, Forum meeting details, events and includes competitions. It is sent to Forum members, PiL subscribers and other London planning organisations; it is also sent to members by London regions of the RIBA and RTPI and is linked from the RICS website.
The Planning in London Yearbook 2007 is the fourth edition and is published under contract for PiL by Excell Publishing with a review of the year ahead and articles by the Mayor, amongst others. Each borough is featured with a one page review and contact details.
*Established in 1980 following an all-party inquiry into the development control system, the London Planning & Development Forum comprises representatives from the Government Office for London (including the DCLG), English Heritage and the Environment Agency; the Association of Consultant Architects, the British Property Federation, the Confederation for British Industry, the Home Builders Federation, the London Housing Federation, the London Chambers of Commerce & Industry, the RIBA, RICS, RTPI and ACA; London Councils ALBPO, CABE, LoTAG, TfL, the London Forum of amenity societies and the Greater London Authority.
Affiliated members are UCL London University (The Bartlett), Planning Aid for London, Berkely Group plc and DTZ Peida Consulting. Recent new members are the City Architecture Forum and the London planning lawyers; UDAL,the Planning Officers' Society and the Association of Landscape Architects are considering membership.
